Mosgiel Ladies Probus Club Celebrates 28 Years with Fashion and Fun

Approximately 100 members of the Mosgiel Ladies Probus Club, both past and present, gathered to celebrate the club’s 28th anniversary with a festive lunch, birthday cake, music, and a unique fashion show. The event highlighted the club’s enduring legacy and its commitment to community engagement.
Celebration Highlights Club’s Legacy
During the celebration, club president Jackie Dalziel praised the group’s continued growth and vitality. She noted that the Mosgiel Ladies Probus Club has remained a vital part of the community, providing members with opportunities for social interaction and personal development. “Our club members really enjoy getting together, hearing speakers, and taking part in activities,” Dalziel stated.
The fashion show, which featured outfits entirely sourced from the Hospice Shop Mosgiel, was a standout moment of the day. Vanessa Hall, a volunteer with the Otago Community Hospice, introduced the segment by emphasizing the importance of the hospice’s fundraising efforts through their shops. Hall described the diverse range of items available, including clothing, shoes, artwork, household goods, and electrical items.
Community Spirit in Action
Four volunteer models took to the catwalk, showcasing their outfits in a mini fashion parade. The models included club member Patsy Walker, committee member Catherine Marshall, hospice staff member Louise Cairns, and volunteer Shanae Taylor. Their participation underscored the collaborative spirit between the Probus Club and the hospice, as well as the community’s support for local initiatives.
As part of the ongoing efforts to welcome new members, the Mosgiel Ladies Probus Club actively encourages those interested to get in touch. For further information, potential members can contact Jackie Dalziel directly at 027 316 3961.
The event was not only a celebration of the club’s history but also a demonstration of how community organizations can come together to support one another, creating a vibrant network of support and friendship.
