Serious Crash Near Cromwell Sends One Person to Hospital
A single-vehicle crash on Lindis Pass-Tarras Rd, near Cromwell, resulted in one individual being airlifted to Dunedin Hospital in serious condition. The accident occurred at approximately 22:10 on October 10, 2023, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
According to a police spokeswoman, the vehicle veered off the road and “went down into a bank.” Authorities were alerted to the incident shortly after it happened.
Emergency services arrived on the scene, including a representative from Hato Hone St John. The spokesperson confirmed that they dispatched one ambulance and a helicopter to assist with the situation. The helicopter played a crucial role in transporting the patient to Dunedin Hospital for urgent medical care.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Further details regarding the victim’s identity or the factors leading to the accident have not yet been released.
As investigations continue, local authorities urge drivers to exercise caution on the roads, especially in potentially hazardous conditions.
