Family Remembers Fiona Cameron and Tomi Muliaga After Fatal Blaze
A devastating house fire at Foxton Beach claimed the lives of two individuals, Fiona Cameron, aged 71, and her partner, Thomas (Tomi) Muliaga. The tragic incident occurred earlier this month at Muliaga’s residence, located approximately 5 kilometers west of Foxton and 90 minutes north of Wellington, New Zealand.
The family of Fiona Cameron expressed their deep sorrow and shared heartfelt tributes to the couple. Cameron’s daughter, Hayley Perkins, described her mother as “the most loving and caring” person, stating that the sudden loss has left both the family and the local community “absolutely devastated.”
Cameron was a dedicated mother to eight children and had been married three times throughout her life. Perkins noted that despite moving around during her life, her mother found a home in Foxton Beach two years ago. Initially, she lived across the street from Muliaga, who also had previous marital experiences. This move marked a new chapter for Cameron, allowing her to establish herself in a community she cherished.
Perkins highlighted the strong bonds formed within their family and the love that surrounded her mother. “Everybody loved her,” she said, capturing the essence of Cameron’s character and the impact she had on those around her. The couple’s passing has not only affected their immediate family but has resonated deeply with friends and neighbors in the seaside town.
As the investigation into the cause of the fire continues, the community is rallying to support the grieving family. Local residents have shared memories of both Cameron and Muliaga, celebrating their lives and the joy they brought to those around them.
This tragic event serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of community support in times of loss. The family urges anyone who knew Cameron and Muliaga to remember them fondly and to come together as a community in their memory.
