Over 100 Vintage Tractors from Allan Dippie Set for Auction

Allan Dippie, a prominent figure in Wānaka, New Zealand, is set to auction over 100 vintage tractors this weekend as he seeks to downsize his extensive collection. Dippie, known for his remarkable developments in the area, has garnered attention not just for his projects but also for his impressive array of vintage machinery.
Dippie’s fascination with tractors began modestly in 2017 when he acquired just one. Since then, his collection has grown significantly, reaching approximately 300 tractors today. The growth of this collection has led to challenges in storage, particularly within his two sheds, each the size of a rugby field. Dippie acknowledged the logistical difficulties, stating, “They’re not like stamps, are they? So that storage is a bit of an issue,” during an interview on RNZ’s Midday Report.
The upcoming auction is expected to attract considerable interest, with thousands having previously flocked to Dippie’s property to view the collection. The event has even caused temporary road blockages due to the influx of visitors eager to see the vintage tractors firsthand.
Dippie’s passion for these machines reflects a broader appreciation for classic vehicles, drawing enthusiasts from far and wide. The auction not only serves as an opportunity for collectors to acquire unique pieces but also highlights the cultural significance of vintage tractors in New Zealand.
As the auction date approaches, anticipation continues to build among collectors and the local community, eager to see which of Dippie’s prized tractors will find new homes.
