University Trio Aims to Deliver 500 Cookie Buckets for Charity
Three university students from Hawke’s Bay are on a mission to surpass the donation of 500 cookie buckets for the Christmas Cheer Appeal this year. Lexi Ormond, Poppy Brenssell, and Jeremy Gaffaney have transformed their parents’ garages into distribution centres for Cookie Time, dedicating their summer to this charitable initiative.
The students are not only selling buckets filled with festive cookies but also encouraging buyers to contribute extra funds or purchase additional items, such as Cookie Time socks, to support the appeal. “The sales commissions help to pay the study fees, but part of the plan is to get buyers who are financially able to either donate a bit extra or buy an extra bucket,” Lexi explains.
Community Spirit Drives Sales
The trio’s efforts are supported by local Cookie Time representatives, who have partnered with them in this festive project. By leveraging their personal networks and the goodwill of the community, they aim to make a significant impact this holiday season. Each student has taken on the responsibility of storing pallets of cookie stock at home, which has temporarily displaced their parents’ vehicles from the garage.
Their goal is not just to sell cookies but to foster a spirit of giving during the Christmas season. The initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the Christmas Cheer Appeal, which provides support to families in need across the region.
The students have embraced the dual purpose of their venture: funding their education while contributing to a meaningful cause. This approach exemplifies a blend of entrepreneurial spirit and community involvement, showcasing how young individuals can make a difference.
Encouraging Generosity in the Community
As they work towards their ambitious target, Lexi, Poppy, and Jeremy emphasize the importance of community participation. They encourage local residents to consider purchasing additional items or donating generously, as every contribution can help brighten the holiday season for families in need.
The Christmas Cheer Appeal is well-known in Hawke’s Bay, aiming to bring joy and support to those facing hardships. With the backing of these dedicated students, the appeal may reach new heights this year, as they strive to deliver over 500 cookie buckets to spread festive cheer.
As the holiday season approaches, the commitment of these university students highlights the potential for collective action to create positive change. Their initiative serves as a reminder that even small contributions can have a substantial impact on the lives of others, fostering a sense of unity and generosity within the community.
