Fourteen Teams Compete for Spots in FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025
Doha, Qatar: Fourteen national teams are set to compete in the qualifying stage for the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, aiming to secure one of the seven available spots in the tournament scheduled to take place in Doha from December 1 to 18, 2025. The qualification matches will occur in the Qatari capital, with the first set of games taking place on November 25 and 26.
Qualification Matches Overview
The opening match will see Mauritania face Kuwait at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, part of Al Sadd Sports Club. This encounter promises to be unpredictable as both teams are determined to earn a place in this prestigious Arab competition. Kuwait, with a rich history in the Arab Cup, has participated in eight of the last ten editions and aims to recover from their failure to qualify for the last tournament in 2021, where they were eliminated by Bahrain.
Mauritania, on the other hand, is seeking its third appearance in the tournament, having previously competed in 1985 and 2021. They are motivated to rebound from their recent setback, missing out on qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco later this year.
In another qualifying match, Syria will take on South Sudan at Grand Hamad Stadium. Syria enters the match with a strong squad and the anticipated support of their fans in Doha, following a mixed performance in the previous Arab Cup where they finished third in their group.
South Sudan is eager to qualify for the Arab Cup for the first time, looking to overcome the disappointment of their previous qualifiers where they lost 3-0 to Jordan. Syria’s objective is not only qualification but also to improve upon their last performance where they exited in the group stage.
Upcoming Matches and Team Aspirations
On November 28, Palestine will meet Libya at Thani bin Jassim Stadium. This match is expected to be closely contested, as both teams are equally determined to secure a spot in the finals. Libya aims to return to the Arab Cup after missing the last tournament due to a loss against Sudan, while Palestine looks to build on their previous success in qualifying.
Also on the schedule is a match between Oman and Somalia at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium. Oman seeks to qualify for the second time in their history, while Somalia aims to achieve their qualification goal after failing to do so in the last edition.
Djibouti will face Bahrain at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, with Djibouti looking to make their debut in the Arab Cup. Meanwhile, Bahrain hopes to advance further than their previous group stage exit.
The qualifiers will culminate with a match between Sudan and Lebanon at Thani bin Jassim Stadium, a clash expected to showcase fierce competition as both teams strive for a spot in this major Arab event.
As the qualification matches unfold, anticipation builds for the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, promising thrilling encounters and the chance for teams to shine on an international stage.
