Qatar’s U-21 3×3 Teams Launch European Nations League Campaign

Qatar’s under-21 men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball teams are set to begin their journey in the fourth leg of the U-21 European Nations League for Youth, which kicks off today in Debrecen, Hungary. The event brings together national teams from several countries, including France, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, and Qatar.

Leading the Qatari delegation is Yassin Ismail, the Director of National 3×3 Basketball Teams, alongside Coach Marco. The men’s team is placed in Group 2, competing against Romania and the Czech Republic. Their first match today will be against Romania, followed by a game against the Czech Republic later in the day.

The men’s squad consists of players Mohamed Hashem, Sultan Abu Issa, Bassam Hajar, and Issa Al-Attar. Meanwhile, the women’s team is also positioned in Group 2, where they will face Ukraine and France. They will start their tournament today with a match against Ukraine, followed by a confrontation with France on the same day.

The women’s lineup features athletes Sarah Al-Maadheed, Dima Al-Jassim, Dana Suleiman, and Fatima Jamal Abdullah. Currently, Qatar’s men’s team ranks second in the tournament standings with 648.881 points, trailing behind France, which leads with 1,002.620 points.

Performance Overview and Rankings

The Czech Republic holds the third position with 536.950 points, followed by Ukraine in fourth with 510.606 points, Hungary in fifth with 427.345 points, and Romania in sixth with 408.897 points. The men’s team has demonstrated significant progress over the previous three legs of the tournament, finishing sixth in the opener, improving to fifth in the second leg, and achieving a strong second-place finish in the third leg, which earned them 175 points.

On the other hand, Qatar’s women’s team enters this leg ranked sixth with 95.794 points. The Czech Republic leads the women’s rankings with 343.467 points, followed closely by Ukraine at 332.157 points and France with 316.872 points. Hungary is positioned fourth with 202.482 points, and Romania is fifth with 159.865 points. The women’s team has accumulated 45 points from their participation in the earlier legs of the tournament.
