Al Markhiya and Al Waab Triumph in QSL Cup Matches
In a thrilling round of the QSL Cup, both Al Markhiya and Al Waab secured important victories, solidifying their positions in the tournament standings. Al Markhiya edged out Lusail with a 2-1 win at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium, while Al Waab overcame Al Bidda with a 2-0 victory at the Al Shamal Stadium.
Al Markhiya Claims Victory with Gabriel’s Brace
Lucas Gabriel emerged as the star of the match for Al Markhiya, scoring both goals for his team. The first came in the 37th minute, giving Al Markhiya a crucial lead. The contest was fiercely competitive, but Lusail managed to equalise early in the second half when Amir Rustay found the net in the 55th minute.
Despite the setback, Al Markhiya responded decisively. Gabriel struck again in the 73rd minute, ensuring his side’s victory. This win marked Al Markhiya‘s third in the tournament, bringing their total points to 10, while Lusail remained at 4 points.
Al Waab Maintains Unbeaten Streak
Al Waab continued their impressive form, remaining unbeaten after defeating Al Bidda 2-0. Both goals for Al Waab came in the second half, with Bahaa Faisal scoring in the 55th minute, followed by Ossenio Cesar in the 67th minute.
The match took a turn for Al Bidda when Javier Martines was sent off in the 65th minute after receiving a second yellow card. This defeat marked Al Bidda‘s second loss in the tournament, leaving them with 8 points, while Al Waab‘s victory brought their tally to 12 points, solidifying their position in the standings.
As the QSL Cup progresses, both Al Markhiya and Al Waab will look to maintain their momentum in the upcoming matches, aiming for a strong finish in the tournament.
