PSG Prepares for Intercontinental Cup Final Against Flamengo
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has commenced its preparations for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final, scheduled for December 17, 2025, in Doha, Qatar. The French champions held their first training session at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium just hours after arriving from Paris. They will face Brazil’s CR Flamengo in a highly anticipated match.
Under the guidance of head coach Luis Enrique, PSG’s training session focused on enhancing player sharpness and recovery. The team aims to secure another prestigious trophy to add to their expanding collection. The players entered the final phase of their training in Qatari conditions, adjusting to the environment ahead of the decisive clash.
Strong Squad Set for the Final
PSG arrives in Doha fresh and focused, having strategically managed their workloads in recent days to ensure peak fitness. The reigning European champions secured their place in the final by winning the UEFA Champions League, a testament to their strength and consistency throughout the tournament.
Flamengo, on the other hand, has earned their spot in the final through a challenging journey. They triumphed in the FIFA Derby of the Americas with a 2-1 victory over Cruz Azul before defeating Egypt’s Pyramids FC 2-0 in the FIFA Challenger Cup. This experience has honed their readiness for the final.
Enrique has emphasized the significance of the Intercontinental Cup for his squad, noting it as a major objective for the season. To keep key players in optimal condition, several regular starters were rested during a narrow 3-2 victory over Metz in Ligue 1 last Saturday.
Key Players and Notable Absences
PSG has brought a robust squad to Doha, featuring prominent players such as Nuno Mendes, Desire Doue, Joao Neves, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Additionally, Ousmane Dembele, who was recently sidelined due to illness, has returned to full training and is expected to play a vital role in the final.
The only significant absentee is Achraf Hakimi, who is unable to participate due to an ankle injury. His absence is a notable loss as PSG prepares for what is expected to be a demanding contest against a well-prepared Flamengo side.
As the final approaches, the excitement builds for what promises to be a thrilling match between two of football’s elite clubs vying for international glory.
