PSG Prepares for Intercontinental Cup Final Against Flamengo in Doha
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) intensified their preparations for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final, set for March 15, 2025, with their first training session in Doha, Qatar, on March 14. The French champions will face Brazil’s CR Flamengo at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in what promises to be a highly competitive match.
After arriving from Paris, PSG immediately took to the pitch to acclimatize to the Qatari conditions. Under the guidance of head coach Luis Enrique, the session was dedicated to enhancing player sharpness and recovery, emphasizing the club’s goal of securing another prestigious trophy.
Strategic Preparation Ahead of the Final
PSG enters the final with a fresh and focused mindset, having meticulously managed their workloads in recent days. The team aims to ensure peak fitness levels for this crucial encounter. The reigning European champions secured their place in the final through their victory in the UEFA Champions League, while Flamengo earned their spot after a series of challenging matches, including a 2-1 win over Cruz Azul and a 2-0 triumph against Egypt’s Pyramids FC.
Enrique has emphasized the significance of the Intercontinental Cup, labeling it a major objective for his squad. To maintain their momentum, several key players were rested during a narrow 3-2 win over Metz in Ligue 1 on March 11, allowing them to enter the final at their best.
Squad Update and Key Players
PSG’s squad for the final includes notable players such as Nuno Mendes, Desire Doue, Joao Neves, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Additionally, Ousmane Dembele, the Ballon d’Or 2025 winner, returns to the lineup after recovering from illness. The only significant absence is Achraf Hakimi, who is sidelined due to an ankle injury.
As PSG looks to clinch the Intercontinental Cup title, they remain aware of the challenge posed by an in-form Flamengo side. The match is eagerly anticipated by fans and players alike, promising a thrilling contest as both teams vie for international glory.
