Qatar Olympic Committee Partners with Microsoft to Boost Sports Innovation
The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has entered into a significant partnership with Microsoft by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at driving digital transformation in the sports sector. This agreement, formalized on October 15, 2023, at QOC headquarters in Doha, will focus on collaboration in developing innovative technologies and smart solutions.
The signing ceremony was attended by key officials from both organizations. H.E. Jassim Rashid Al-Buenain, Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and Mr. Ahmad Al-Dandachi, General Manager of Microsoft Qatar, endorsed the MoU, marking a commitment to enhance operational performance and support the development of Qatari sports.
Focus on Digital Solutions and Innovation
The MoU outlines a framework for implementing advanced digital solutions from Microsoft, including cloud computing and artificial intelligence applications. This initiative is expected to elevate the operational standards of the QOC and align with the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly in organizing major sporting events.
Among the notable projects included is the “Khadoom” application, designed to streamline employee requests and transactions through artificial intelligence. Additionally, the implementation of an “Executive Dashboard” will provide vital access to data and analytics, assisting in informed decision-making. The agreement also encompasses a “Media Portal” that facilitates smart archiving of sports media content, improving search and sharing capabilities.
Commitment to a Digital Sports Ecosystem
The partnership extends beyond these projects, with further digital programs and initiatives aimed at fostering a sustainable and innovative environment within the sports sector. H.E. Jassim Rashid Al-Buenain emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “At Qatar Olympic Committee, we are committed to adopting the latest technologies in support of our strategic goals in sporting excellence.”
He further noted that this partnership signifies a key pillar in enhancing innovation and establishing a smart work environment. It aims to empower the national workforce while ensuring high levels of efficiency and transparency in the management of operations and events organized by the Olympic Committee.
Ahmad Al-Dandachi expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, affirming, “We are honored to partner with Qatar Olympic Committee and look forward to contributing to its continued success through cutting-edge technology solutions that support its vision for the future of Qatari sport.”
Through this partnership, both organizations aim to solidify Qatar’s status as a leading destination for sports innovation, leveraging technology to enhance the overall sports ecosystem.
