Aaron Smith and Teagan Voykovich Separate After 10 Years Together
Former All Black star Aaron Smith has announced his separation from his wife, Teagan Voykovich, after more than ten years together, including four years of marriage. The split was confirmed by Joe Wheeler, talent manager at Halo Sports, who stated that both parties are focusing on their two young sons during this transition.
Wheeler expressed that Smith and Voykovich are navigating their separation “privately and respectfully.” He emphasized that the couple will not be making any further comments about their relationship, allowing them to manage this change away from public scrutiny.
Focus on Family and Future
The family, who own a rural property outside Hamilton, has reportedly been working on renovations during Smith’s time overseas. Since concluding his illustrious career with the All Blacks in 2023, Smith has been playing for the Japanese club Toyota Verblitz.
Their relationship has previously attracted public attention, particularly due to a scandal in 2016. During an incident at Christchurch Airport, Smith was caught in a compromising situation, which led to his suspension from a test match in South Africa. At the time, Voykovich’s father commented on the impact of the situation, stating that his daughter was coping “as well as could be expected” and described the ordeal as “a real shock.”
In a 2019 podcast, Smith reflected on the incident, admitting it took years to rebuild both his personal and professional life. He shared, “It was hard, very tough, but I had to take a really good look in the mirror at who I was portraying and who I was being.” He acknowledged that the healing process was gradual, stating, “It wasn’t an instant thing; it took a couple of years to really sort out my issues, and I’m still working on myself.”
Moving Forward
As they move forward, Smith and Voykovich are reportedly prioritizing co-parenting their children. This focus on family marks a new chapter for the former couple, as they navigate the complexities of their separation while ensuring the well-being of their sons remains at the forefront of their efforts.
As one of New Zealand’s most celebrated rugby players, Smith’s personal life continues to be of interest to fans and the media alike. Moving forward, it is expected that both he and Voykovich will maintain a commitment to their family’s well-being as they embrace their new lives apart.
