Black Ferns Gear Up for Third-Place Clash Against France
The Black Ferns are set to face France in the third-place playoff of the Women’s Rugby World Cup on March 15, 2024, at Twickenham. After a disappointing semifinal loss to Canada, the team is eager to secure the world No. 3 ranking and end the tournament on a high note.
Director of Performance Allan Bunting has announced the return of two key players, Jorja Miller and Laura Bayfield, who will both start against France. Both athletes missed the semifinal due to undisclosed injuries but have returned to strengthen the squad for this crucial match.
Miller, who plays the openside flanker position, takes on the No. 7 jersey, while Bayfield, a lock, will bolster the forward pack. Their inclusion marks the only changes to the starting lineup, with Alana Bremner moving to the bench and Kennedy Tukuafu dropping out of the match-day 23.
The Black Ferns, currently ranked third in the world, are determined to reclaim a top position as they take on France, a team they have faced multiple times with varying outcomes. The stakes are high, not only for pride but also for maintaining a strong international ranking.
As the match approaches, the atmosphere is charged with anticipation. The Black Ferns are focused on their final task of the tournament, aiming to leave a lasting impression as they strive for victory at Twickenham.
