Caleb Clarke Aims for All Blacks Comeback in Cardiff Test
The All Blacks are set to face Wales in Cardiff for their final test of the year, with Caleb Clarke aiming to return from concussion to boost his team’s morale. Clarke, a key player who has faced injury setbacks this season, hopes to contribute significantly after being limited to just three test appearances so far.
Unfortunately for the All Blacks, Tevita Mafileo has been ruled out of this week’s match after medical scans confirmed a rib fracture sustained during training. In light of this, Chiefs prop George Dyer has been called up from the All Blacks XV squad to provide training cover.
Meanwhile, Devan Flanders has also joined the squad as a precautionary measure. Flanders steps in after Fabian Holland missed the recent defeat against England due to illness. Holland, who received a nomination for the World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year award, is expected to be fit for selection against Wales.
The All Blacks have also retained Christian Lio-Willie in their training camp, following the departures of Samipeni Finau and Luke Jacobson, who have returned to New Zealand.
This year has been challenging for Clarke, with injuries impacting his playtime. Despite this, he has managed to showcase his talent, establishing himself as the first-choice left wing when fit. His potential return is viewed as a significant boost for the All Blacks as they look to end the year on a high note.
With the match scheduled for December 2, 2023, the All Blacks will aim to overcome their recent setbacks and secure a victory in Cardiff. The importance of this final test cannot be understated, as it presents an opportunity for the team to regain their momentum and close the year positively.
