Siddhanth Kapoor Summoned in ₹252 Crore Drug Investigation
Mumbai Police have summoned Siddhanth Kapoor, the brother of Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor, as part of a significant drug investigation linked to a major seizure valued at approximately ₹252 crore. He is expected to appear before authorities on November 25, 2023, to provide a statement regarding his involvement in the case.
This action follows the recent summons of social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, known as Orry. Reports indicate that Orry did not attend his scheduled questioning, opting instead to request additional time through his legal representation, as reported by Hindustan Times.
The investigation centers around Mohammed Salim Mohammed Suhail Shaikh, the primary suspect in the extensive mephedrone (MD) drug bust. Shaikh was apprehended after being deported from Dubai last month, during which he provided crucial testimony to the Ghatkopar unit of the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC). His statements implicated several high-profile individuals, including both Siddhanth and Orry, in connection with lavish parties allegedly attended by celebrities.
According to investigations, Shaikh claimed to have organized extravagant gatherings in both Mumbai and Dubai, frequented by notable figures from the entertainment industry. His assertions included names such as Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor, filmmakers Abbas and Mustan, and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique. These revelations have intensified scrutiny on the celebrities mentioned.
Siddhanth Kapoor has not yet publicly addressed the summons. It is worth noting that he was previously detained in Bengaluru in 2022 on charges of drug consumption, from which he was later released without further incident. Meanwhile, Orry, who is seeking an extension until the end of November, was recently seen attending a concert by rapper Travis Scott in Mumbai, raising eyebrows regarding his commitment to cooperating with police.
The timeline of this investigation dates back to March 2024, when authorities seized 126.14 kg of mephedrone from an illegal manufacturing site located on a farm in Sangli district. Shaikh is believed to be the mastermind behind this operation, allegedly admitting to hosting rave parties that attracted various celebrities across India and abroad.
As the investigation continues, further statements from those summoned are anticipated in the coming days. The Mumbai Police are working diligently to uncover the full extent of the drug operation and its connections to the entertainment industry.
